Each field deployed power monitoring system is unique. Some systems have been modified very little from the factory defaults, while others may have been completely customized. The various configuration items and settings are stored in different locations and in different formats in the system. The Configuration Manager automatically migrates most of the configuration items, including the database files. Common reasons for moving the software to a new computer include:
- The operating system version or the database (DB) server version on the old system is no longer supported by the new PME version.
- The computer hardware of the old system is outdated and needs to be replaced.
- The old system cannot be decommissioned until the new system is fully deployed.
- You want to start with a fresh computer environment for the installation of the new version of the software but retain the configuration of the old system.
